No-buy Hiatus

I started a no-buy at the beginning of this year. I was doing well up until a month or so ago. I am not sure if it is because I am feeling lonely, or seeing all this new makeup come out, that I broke my no-buy with a $40 Bobbi Brown blush in the most gorgeous coral I've ever seen. It has spiraled downwards from there. I just purchased 8 nail polishes and have had 2 ColourPop orders come in within the last two weeks.

I am hereby taking myself off said no-buy, as suggested by a friend. I am not going to go crazy and haul makeup, but if there is something that I absolutely want, I refuse to make myself feel guilty about it; which is what has happened. I feel like I have been lying to myself, and that's not good.

I am jumping into the "Finish 5 by Cinco de Mayo" challenge a little late, but I have exactly two months to make some serious progress on these five items:

Empties #4

February 17th was the last time I posted my empties, and I have a ten more to finish up the month of February and going into March. This brings my total up to 27 empty beauty containers that I have used since January 1, 2015. 27!!! That is a lot. To me anyways...

Project Pan/Use It Up Finale

I started the beginning of this Project Use It Up with the following items:

Pop of Blue - Sephora Collection 'Stormy Seas'

I fell in love with Sephora's Duo Reflects Single Eyeshadow in 'Stormy Seas'. I am normally not a fan of blue eyeshadow, honestly I do not know how to wear it properly. The nice lady at my local Sephora suggested I put it on the outer "V" and then use a champagne color for the rest of the lid. Keep it simple. So, that's what I did today.

Here is the result:

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

I think I've finally found the one...it makes me feel pretty and hides my imperfections in a perfectly natural way. The wear is so good (I took a nap and it didn't budge), not cakey even with two layers on, and is the most perfect color match I've ever had. The finish is luminous, hence the name, but not shiny in a bad way. It gives my skin life. Giorgio Armani's Luminous Silk Foundation lives up to its hype and exceeded my expectations.

For reference my skin is dry, blotchy, chin acne, and has red spots along with my freckles. I have run out of words of praise for this amazing foundation. If you are on the fence about it, get a sample and give it a try.

Project Pan / Use It Up Update #3

I realize that my last few posts have been all updates, aka trash. But, since starting this journey at the beginning of this year, I am seeing the joy in decluttering and using up all the bits & pieces. Most of these include skin care samples, but in doing this I have learned what I like, what I hate, and most importantly, what works for me. My ultimate goal is to find one item in each category that is holy grail for me. Makeup and skin care is totally personal preference, so just because I dislike something, doesn't mean it won't work for someone else.

I purchased what I hope will be my holy grail foundation and primer combination. Fingers crossed my hunt is over..more to come on that later. Now, onto my trash! (With mini-reviews).
